Nicole Farhi Spring/Summer 2014

By Marcellous L. Jones

London, UK – Joann Sykes has created a breath of fresh air in the new collection at Nicole Farhi. This season the key words are natural and organic. They are combined with an urban spirit that makes the collection modern.

Lots of knit and woven fabrics are used to power the designs.  Some knits have geometric formations as patterns. Some of the fabrics look as though they have been designed with the use of clever computers. The trousers are classic slim without being pencil thin.  The outerwear coats drop down to just below the mid point of the thigh. They exchange places with short cut and crop jackets in leather and in woven fabrics.

The trousers are cut to reveal the ankles only and to not make a statement. This results in relaxed looks that are a pleasure to see as they convey a message of easiness. This carefree, light mood is further pushed through the use of espadrilles. The models wear them throughout the fashion show.

Though there are tans, whites, etc. in the collection. However, blue is the undisputed champion in the color palette.Nicole Farhi Spring/Summer 2014
