Paris, France – It’s been years since couture star Georges Chakra began thrilling audiences in Paris with his spin on what makes a woman happy through her selection of fine wardrobe. As the Spring/Summer 2015 season announces itself, he seizes upon the occasion to write a new chapter in his storied career.
Chakra is the most reliable couturier in the department of surprises. This season he wasted no time in delighting us all with the first half dozen silhouettes. The models each came out in what appeared to be beautiful, short cut dresses. Then to our amazement, the model removed their dresses to reveal very short, sassy dresses done in sumptuous lace, silk and sequins. The shoulders are revealed to the max. He uses muted sequins in one of the most exciting looks. The looks are capped off with micro gloves, high heels and gold and silver bracelets.
The collection has lovely silhouettes done in crochet embroidered with in sequins. Of course the collection employs quite a number of embroideries, tulle, silk, sequins, pearls, and appliques. But these are not the only arms that the couturier would have in his arsenal. He creates with lots of trains and transparencies as well. And of course, he included yellow, which is a favorite color for his creations.
Chakra gave us one of the best showings of skills in working with transparencies. He particularly uses two layers of the transparency to cover the body.
When the last gown before the wedding came out, I said to myself, “NO! It can’t be over just yet!” But then came the sumptuous wedding gown. As a dream it is in light pastel silk with a white over lay. It features a decadent amount of floral embroideries which also embellish the gown’s long train.
