Lisbon, Portugal – The talented Portugal-based designer Lidija Kolovrat is making large collars quite the affair in her coats this season. However, the real surprise is two-fold. It comes in the fact that a) she is using vivid colors this season and b) that she is using a lot of them in the women’s line.
Her avant-gardist cuts are very well present in the women’s line. Double-faced materials with hounds tooth on one side and bright pink prints on the opposite side make it way into the collection. And to them she brings in fur, an element that we are not so used to associating to the Kolovrat universe.
The menswear sees her adding more sophisticated pieces into the collection. On a well-done blazer, we find exquisitely crafted leaf appliqués in leather. The pants are in black cotton denim and are finished with a brilliant sheen. She adds large cuffs to the trousers too. Here she bleeds her colors down into the black fabrics of her button-down shirts.
Even though Kolovrat is experimenting for the first time with lots of colors, she remains true to her DNA. She does this by adding the generous volumes to her trousers. It is nice to see her also using her leather leaves used to compose one of the most satisfying, collarless jackets of the season!
