Paris, France – For his 2015-2016 fall-winter collection, Antonio Ortega rescues, redirects, and reinterprets fabrics to evoke the transition toward a celestial spirituality, a new life. A mystery drawn from various cultures around the world, a journey blending tradition, worship and fascination…
In MUMMIFIC, mysterious bandages curl and intertwine, enveloping silhouettes. Clothes glide over the body, sensual and fragile. Dark tones are often enhanced with touches of light; the curves of the waist and hips are draped with bands of colour, graphic shapes, and contrasting shades.
Dresses, suits, skirts, shorts, pants, overcoats and jackets are enhanced by sets of embroidery, knitting, weaving, enriched effects, the wink of an eye and a brilliant sheen…
Boldness is omnipresent in a collection where conventional forms are reinvented with mixtures of materials, or seemingly casual fringes. Yet such variety forms a coherent whole where satins, tulles, wool, chenille and even lurex coexist with the chic and elegant! Hems reveal a false tulle lining in all its delicacy. Asymmetrical lines abound, and bodices and bare backs blur the onlooker’s perception.
Stoles and rings are the star attraction of this collection and wrap the body to accentuate its curves. The volumes of fabric embrace the bust, emphasize shoulders and highlight the sensuality of the neckline.
Unexpected but never subversive, unnerving yet upbeat, insolent yet respectful, this collection offers a variety of accessories such as leather gaiters, bracelets and caps, which, from head to toe, make the Ortega woman stand out among all others.
