Novi Sad, Serbia – Ivana Murisic does a strong outing for Spring/Summer 2016 with the creation of her new collection. With this work, we find something that is familiar, yet still quite intriguing.
Murisic does the work by hand. She hand weaves her materials to create dresses and skirts with unfinished edges. These edges are finished in long strings. The work is very intricate. Though the whole of the looks are not always correct in terms of the proportions, there is no doubt that there is a real work involved in the conception and realization of the garments. And in fact it borderlines more couture than ready-to-wear.
The patterns created by Ivana Murisic are extremely important in terms of complexity. The brilliant threads are used to create both lovely geometric and abstract imagery.
The biggest concern is that the designer has not yet perfected the way in which she pulls together the lace strings in her work. This is something that must be improved upon as she works with corsets. And in spite of this technical flaw, the corset designs remain beautiful.
