Novi Sad, Serbia – Milena Radovic presents a collection that perplexes this writer a bit. I’ll start by saying that I like it very much. However, it does have its fair share of improvements to be made.
This very consistent collection concentrates primarily on outerwear. Some could argue that the designer focuses this portion for the earlier months of Spring 2016 when it is sure to still be cold. So in this she has created quite a few coats and has even used the materials in two piece sets.
Milena Radovic skilfully uses color blocking and matching hosiery to create a bold image. This accounts for the illusion of variety. However it remains only an illusion as the pieces are dominated by two principal shapes in the coats. They have been repeated and repeated and to the benefit of various colors.
Though the larger coats are well made, the designer experiences quite a lot of difficulty in her short-cropped jackets with giant collars. And like they say, “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Unfortunately for the designer, the flawed construction in each of the short-cropped jackets cannot be ignored or mistaken for anything else other than flawed construction. This becomes painfully confusing due only to the fact that the other pieces are so well made. And at this point Milena Radovic is too skilled as a designer in order to allow for something like this to happen.
The highlight of the collection is without a doubt the dresses. The two that come most easily to mind are those in forest green. They have strong skyline imagery to complete them. It is a shame that the designer chose not to develop them and present more of them in variations.
