Barcelona, Spain – Hippie chic meets urban knits in new Sita Murt ‘s Fall Winter 2016/17 “Freedom’s Mood” collection. Icons from the 70’s such as supermodel Peggy Lipton and Frank Zappa merge with the essence of urban simplicity. This results in wonderful designs and styling.
After Sita’s passing in 2014, it was up to Isabel Esteve to take over the role as design director at Sita Murt. With ‘Freedom’s Mood’ she definitely keeps the name of the designers label high as ever: feminine, fun, sculptural and comfy confident… a true tribute to the urban woman.
Deep V-necks, detailed sleeves, flared trousers and maxi dresses represent the bohemian inspiration of the collection. The carefree fluttering viscose and silk definitely scream freedom. They evoke memories of Woodstock or even the modern festival Coachella. However, the label Sita Murt takes it a step further by merging this carefree atmosphere with its characteristic urban simplicity, which creates a wonderful effect.
Thick, almost sculptural, knitted sweaters, graphic capes, turtlenecks and jacquard vests are layered over the delicate fabrics. This is a rather unexpected combination of styles, but one that turns out to work perfectly together. It is the brilliant layered styling of the designs that makes it able to create these amazing looks. Isabel Esteve knows exactly what she is doing!
The colors of the collection are a mix between minimalistic nude colors and bright reds for a feminine touch. Every now and then some abstract floral prints pop up, thus allowing us to spot some North European inspired sweaters! After all, who is better in urban minimalism than Scandinavians?
It seems like the label Sita Murt has a gift to take the best elements from all styles and merge them together into one brilliant – and still perfectly wearable – collection. ‘Freedom’s Mood’ reflects the postmodern eclectic habits of the 21st century: a mix-up of styles which comes together as a completely new invention.
