Paris, France – The great thing about going to a show by the French grand couturier Alexandre Vauthier is that you already know in advance that he will give us what we want and what we expect of him. That is to say a modern way of doing haute couture for today’s most vivacious clients.
In his new Spring/Summer 2016 collection, Alexandre Vauthier gives us the daring cuts, the sex appeal and the cutouts that have become his staples. To those he has added a bit of micro-pleating, lots of cuissards (or thigh-high boots) and strappy sandals. He moves effortlessly from the micro-skirts and dresses to longer gowns, which are nearly just as revealing thanks to their daring and nearly even dangerous cuts.
Interestingly enough Vauthier is working with lots of wools and silks this season and just with a hint of crystals. However, the most remarkable fabric comes in his lace, which has leopard patterns in it. From there he also adds in some great leathers too that he uses to form pants and micro-perfecto inspired dresses. In terms of details, he goes all the way with his large flat collars and large utility pockets found in the pants. And he introduces us too to his new eyewear.
This is far from being a classic haute couture collection. This is the beauty of Alexandre Vauthier ‘s work. By completely stepping out of the box, he has managed to create a rich universe of his own. His codes can be resumed in several key terms: sexy, skin-revealing and ultra-modern. And all of these words are invoked his Spring/Summer 2016 collection.
