Paris, France – In her new collection for Spring/Summer 2016 aspiring couturier Patuna focuses on black and soft, pastel lilac as a color palette. Working with silks, she creates cocktail dresses, party dresses, soft gowns and pants ensembles. Draping is a constant in the pieces and adds softness and the femininity that one would expect and even demand in a collection for spring/summer.
Patuna needs to sharpen her attention to finishing her work. And it would not hurt to invest in more sumptuous materials for her couture line. Most designers make the common mistake of thinking that a fashion show is the best way to showcase their work. In the case of Patuna, a more intimate setting could provide more opportunities for the designer. For example, by doing a presentation instead of a fashion show, she could reduce cost and use the savings to invest in better materials. A presentation would also allow her more time to breathe so that she could concentrate on perfecting her silhouettes. And it would allow the designer to relax more, thus allowing more freedom for her imagination to really surface.
