Paris, France – Dany Atrache opens his fashion show with silhouettes in black tulle with embroideries in sequins and crystals. The first look is composed of pants in lace with a top worn in black. It is created with a faux draping effect created from bands of black materials.
Of course the new Fall Winter 2016/17 collection is all about lots of gowns and cocktail dresses. Some dresses for formal dinner occasions such as the gold dress in silk organdi bring instant joy. Its has a short front that tips as it drops behind the legs. It is completed with embroideries in emerald green.
This fashion critics freely admits to having been extremely critical of the errors found in Dany Atrache ‘s last collection (DANY ATRACHE – Spring/Summer 2016). It was very necessary at that time. The designer rendered work that was clearly far beneath his known levels. And quite frankly, this writer was disappointed. But let us consider that as simply a temporary dip in energy and motivation.
However this season the work is free of those technical errors that plagued the previous collection like a fearsome albatross. The work is there. The research is there. All is lovely. However the only “wish” that this writer has for Dany Atrache is to see him push his research into his shoulder work further and further. Obviously he masters the craft well enough for his dresses. However the true test of his talents will come down to the technical savoir-faire and as they are very much expressed in the quality of his shoulder work from his eventual jackets.
Dany Atrache has created his new work in a variety of materials and style. The result as a whole results in a cohesive collective body of work for Fall Winter 2016/17. And though some small adjustments must be made in the area of the construction of the shoulder work, the collection nonetheless still remains aesthetically Dany Atrache ‘s most beautiful work.
