Paris, France – For Spring/Summer 2017 collection, Shiatzy Chen is inspired by Barcelona, and especially the Sagrada Familia of the architecture Gaudí. The designer is fascinated by the impressive structure of the building, contradicting the delicate details of the stained glass windows and the softness of the clouds she saw through them. This results in the collection titled, ‘The Cutting Clouds’: a combination of geometric silhouettes inspired by the Catalan Art Deco style.
On the catwalk we see many architectural dresses and skirts, draping ruffles and 3D jacquard prints. From crispy white to ink black, and from vermillion red to canary yellow or soft pink shades. Just like the Sagrada Familia, “The Cutting Clouds” represents an intense experience of cultural femininity. Sturdy materials are contradicted with long breezy vests and the collection consists out of brilliant layering of designs, prints and materials.
As for the trends of the upcoming Spring/Summer 2017 at Shiatzy Chen, we spotted several pleated skirts with metallic details, embellishments as accents on the designs, etc. We even see the pajama trend – may it be more in the direction of sensual negligées rather than comfortable flannel suited pajamas. There are many lace details implemented in the designs, as well as stained glass inspired prints and holographic accessories.
All in all, Shiatzy Chen shows us a beautifully cohesive collection with an inspiring creative vision. Unique statement looks can also be separated into singular designs which are perfectly wearable. For the women who like to turn heads with their stylish and elegant outfits, this is the perfect collection for you!
