Madrid, Spain – For his Spring/Summer 2017 collection called the ‘Four Seasons, designer Andrés Sardá wants to make a statement. And that statement according to him is, “Lingerie is for every season”. With a catwalk show that reminds us all of Victoria’s Secret spectacle, Andrès Sardá really manages to set the tone for the rest of Madrid Fashion Week.
Constant change and the cycle of life through the four seasons are the inspirations for Andrés Sardá. He depicts four sequences in which nature reveals itself in all of its splendor and through the various facets of its beauty. It is great to see how each season is represented by the designer. The collection is quite diverse with seasonal spring flowers to the brightness of summer, the sensuality of autumn, and finally winter with references to Christmas.
The colors vary from pastel yellows to dark navy blue, materials from soft chiffon to strong plastic. Elegant Brazilian cuts are altered with futuristic sculptural bodies, and so on. The first two seasons we see a lot of mesh and striped designs which remind us of the Mediterranean culture and sailors. Light colors such as white, blue, indigo, sand and yellow give the collection a fresh breeze.
The last two seasons focus on textures, plays of transparencies and sculptural effects. In autumn we see a lot of nature’s colors such as green and brown, used for designs. They recall of leafs and branches. To celebrate the end of the year, Andrés Sardá designed winter lingerie that brings us straight to Christmas Eve. He includes big sculptural ribbons, Swarovski crystals, Chantilly lace and embroidery on stiff tulle.
It is hard to find a steady and consistent thread that unites the collection as a whole. However, one thing is for sure. These design pieces are very stylish and surprisingly wearable. Thus one totally understands why the honor of opening the Madrid Fashion Week went to Andrés Sardá.
