Madrid, Spain – Many were looking forward to seeing this season at the Madrid Fashion Week the collection by Jorge Vázquez. He has already won the price for best collection from the last season.
With his Spring/ Summer 2017 collection “Mogambo”, Jorge Vázquez is expressing his unforgettable adventure in Africa. The expectations were high, and they got even higher once we saw the setting. The catwalk was transformed into a true Safari landscape.
“Mogambo” is the ideal combination between tribal and elegant fashion, perfectly wearable for the spring and summer. We can see many tropical prints and feather embroideries, but also crispy whites and waistline belts.
Among the trends this season, one spots easily sequins, mesh and ruffles. At the beginning of the presentation the colors are warm and earthy with hues such as burgundy red and brown. They later evolve into creamy whites and a variety of colors that remind us of both the rainforest and the ocean. Other references to the safari theme are patches and embroideries of animals, a couple of subtle leopard prints, palm trees, and belts which look like lianas. The most used materials in this Spring/ Summer 2017 collection are cotton, linen, silk, tulle and Crepe de Chine.
Favorites from the ‘Mogambo’ collection are some of the last dresses that came down the runway. They include transparent tulle with embroideries inspired by the ocean fauna. These dresses truly radiate the essence of the concept Jorge Vázquez had in mind while creating this collection. They are done with a perfect balance between exotic nature and female elegance.
All in all, Jorge Vázquez has once again managed to impress us all at the Madrid Fashion Week with a beautiful collection of high quality. ‘Mogambo’ is very inspirational, and us all curious to see more from him in his next collection.
