Madrid, Spain – Soft chiffon and floral prints go hand in hand with leather and studs for the Spring/ Summer 2017 collection of Juanjo Oliva. If left up to him, women will be more than beautiful creatures from nature. They will be seen as strong and independent as well.
Throughout the catwalk presentation of this talented Spanish designer, we can see many contrasts in between the designs and outfits. The main motive is the designer’s love for long chiffon and silk dresses. They all get edged up with the styling elements such as capes, felt hats, leather gloves, studded belts and especially a lot of oversized sweaters. This naturally creates an overall soft yet edgy vibe.
Intriguing are the long trails that elegantly move over the floor and create a romantic effect. Furthermore, we also see double splits, floral prints, pleated skirts, off shoulders pieces and stripes – amongst the others. The main colors used throughout this Spring/ Summer 2017 collection are purple, brown, red and green. There is also the occasional designs in black & white. Notable are the detailed and beautiful embroideries of natural elements such as feathers and leaves.
All in all, Juanjo Oliva managed to create a beautiful and cohesive collection with a unique twist on nature, which is his biggest inspiration. We are definitely looking forward to see more of him!
