Bucharest, Romania – Lui by Luiza introduces us to a very body of cocktail and formal wear attire for Spring/Summer 2017. In this very first edition of the Romanian Fashion Philosophy, this house came and conquered its very attentive and appreciative collection. It is replete with feminine shapes, quality cuts and attractive colors.
The tight little black dress in velvet is the first piece to grab our attention. With its crystals and black mink accents, it makes a statement that is destined to be heard by all. From there we see the appearance of cocktail dresses with lace accents. The light champagne tone makes it perfect for late spring or early summer. More cocktail wear appears in black. Among them are the short cocktail in velvet with lace panels and feather accents.
The house does create more formal pieces with greater lengths. Among them is the long gown in blush. With long sleeves, this offers options for those who have more conservative tastes. However, its bust is more ornate than the rest. It is where the sex appeal comes into play in this particular gown. Several other dresses appear with fishtail cuts. These are among those that flatter relentlessly the silhouette.
Though this fashion critic does enjoy the vast majority of what I saw, alas I must comment on a particular annoyance that plagued the presentation. When one participates in such a thing as a fashion show, one expects the designer(s) to show an authentic collection. Here Lui by Luiza opted to not show a real collection, but rather a nicely composed body of garments. Unfortunately they are united in terms of theme, color and aspiration. This is what makes a body of work into a COHESIVE collection. And all save the little black cocktail dresses, there are absolutely no legitimate cohesion efforts made here.
