ON AURA TOUT VU
Contagious ‘Joie de Vivre’ for Fall Winter 2013/14
By Ford Leland
Paris, France – Glowing vibrantly in the gardens of the Palais Royal, the On Aura Tout Vu Haute Couture collection added certain optimism to the Parisian schedule. This arrives at just the right moment, as the season had been otherwise lost in the mostly somber collections we saw this Winter 2013 season.
A cerebral affaire filled with color and cranial references, the sculptural silhouettes proposed by the Bulgarian duo featured a whimsical quality that stayed true to the brand’s history. Though the clothing wasn’t constructed in the most respectable fashion, the real gift of this team is their ability to imagine and construct unique embellishments that set their pieces apart. Especially in their jewelry and accessories, the vertebral plastic columns that adorn this collection are a testament to their ingenuity and unique perspective.
Though it is unfortunate that so many of their seams lacked the smoothed finesse we usually expect from couture, the joie de vivre that they promote is contagious and will certainly carry them for many seasons to come.
