SERKAN CURA
A Fine Composition of Creation & Allure
By Ford Leland
Paris, France – A master craftsman of feathered silhouettes, Serkan Cura’s Winter 2013 Haute Couture collection is a well composed orchestra of imaginative creation and refined allure. Though this short 10-piece collection did not follow a typically congruous line of thought, the similarity of corset style cuts present in each piece carried a cohesive aesthetic throughout the show that really worked.
Cura established the shape of the season beginning the event with a wrap around coat in sanguine fur over a cropped leather dress and matching puffed heels. From there the collection advanced through a series of looks that placed heavier volume on the shoulders or below the hip, while always keeping the waist tucked in and tight.
Though the final piece was a bit anti-climactic there were many season favorites in the rest of the show. The ruby red fiery feather dress was particularly prominent as was a glinting pair of black bead-embroidered high waist paints and accompanying crop-top jacket.
Serkan is definitely a designer to watch, look to see his creations in an editorial near you beginning early next year.
