WOOYOUNGMI
Extraordinary Technique
By Marcellous L. JONES
Paris, France – Wooyoungmi presents a collection of beautifully tailored garments for Fall Winter 2013/14. The fact that she places them together with lively colors for the season makes it even more appealing. The fabrics are warm, but not sturdy and allow for softer peaks and edges. It is her special way of making men chic without the strictness of traditional tailoring.
In a pre-show interview with Fashion Insider TV, she stated that color is important in the collection. We see that she has taken them and has used them as hint here and there in order to highlight the detail of the collar, the lapels, and the pockets.
Her work with the wool-felt pieces is extraordinaire! She created details using a “sur-picqué” technique. With it she is able to create lifted, geometric forms in the pieces. She uses it in the trousers, the blazers and jackets. Even in the perfecto jacket. Without a doubt, when one sees this on the street one has to know that it is from the mind of Wooyoungmi.
