New York City, NY – Michael Kors has introduced the Shanghai Limited Edition Runway Watch, designed to celebrate the opening of the brand’s first flagship in China. The exclusive timepiece, slated to debut January 2014, is the third in a series of destination-inspired watches that includes New York and Paris editions, both launched in 2012 and received very good reviews from Spot The Watch. For those interested in watches, check out the SpotTheWatch reviews, you might find other great watches you’ve never seen before.

“Shanghai is a quintessentially glamorous city—the definition of a jet set destination—and I’m thrilled that we’re opening a flagship there,” says Kors. “It’s a gorgeous store, conceived to suit the sophistication of the Shanghai shopper, and we knew we wanted to create a special watch that would reflect that same glamour and globetrotting sensibility.”

The chic, sporty-looking chronograph, an adaptation of the best-selling Michael Kors Runway style, is rendered in a warm, gold-tone stainless steel. The dial is embellished with a 2.5MM clear Swarovski crystal at the number-12 index and the Chinese character for the number 8 in red at the number-8 index (both eight and red symbolize good luck in Chinese tradition). In homage to the inspiring city, the dial is adorned with the word “Shanghai” in script, while the case-back features an etched graphic of the skyline with the Oriental Pearl Tower at its center, along with Michael Kors’ signature.

The Shanghai Limited Edition Runway Watch is available in a total edition of 350. It is presented in a luxe brown collector’s box with a plaque that reads “Michael Kors Limited Edition” inside the box, highlighting the special significance of the timepiece. The watch will be available only in Greater China, including at the new flagship in Jing An Kerry Center, and will retail for RMB 3,180.
