Tom Notte & Bart Vandenbosch Make Leap Forward
June 2014

Milan, Italy – Tom Notte & Bart Vandenborcsch present to us a well inspired collection for Spring/Summer 2014 in which we see the designer making the t-shirt and its variations the star of the collection. The duo is known for its work with thin lapels. Here we see them appear as very narrow and thinly cut creations. Several silhouettes feature them with one superimposed over the other.
Many details stand out about this collection. First off, let’s examine the shape of the silhouettes. The trousers are cut very thin and close to the body. The jackets are short cut. The splits go from the waist length of the jacket up the spine. And one is forced to notice the work done on the shoulders. This latter – one of the most important elements in the collection if not the most important detail – is greatly supported with padding. One gets the impression that the designers are tempted but stop just short of giving us a more feminine pagoda style shoulder.
Black and white with hints of gray dominate the color palette. The floral prints are very appealing. They along with the subtle patterns are subtle but noticeable enough for a strong leap forward in menswear.
