Paris, France – Of the new generation of couturier, Alexandre Vauthier is certainly one of the most exciting. French at heart, worldly in vision, it is easy to understand how his Fall Winter 2014 collection is more than just exciting.
First off the bat, the couturier opened the show with several looks composed of similarly cut trousers: several inches above the ankles, baggy at the hips and tight at the waist. Presented in black and in multiple colors, they are featured in modern looks with awesome belts, hooded coats, fur coats, sheer tops and angular jackets.
For those who thought that Vauthier would take a more conservative approach to the winter season and show less skin, you need to think again! He creates many looks with a single sleeve in the tops. And of course he creates long gowns in sheer, soft fabrics that with the splits for which he is so known, show much of the leg.
He does a variety of cocktail dresses. Some of the cocktail dresses are a bit reminiscent of Ungaro’s draped cocktail numbers. However, he goes on to put his own DNA on others with as the white cocktail dresses and suits that reminds a bit of the 1990s power suit.
