Paris, France – Jean-Paul Gaultier opens us the presentation of his new Fall Winter 2014 haute couture collection with silhouettes of black worn with impossibly high heels. This is the only way that one could tell the story of his Vampires collection.

“I had been seeing a lot of movies with vampires in them”, said Gaultier. “They were everywhere. So this is how I got the idea to do a collection about them. But of course, I do it in my own way.“

The first model to hit the catwalk at the Gaultier world headquarters wear a short, frozen movement dress with black skin pants. The short-cropped dress is in black and an hourglass shape. The shoulders are huge, the waist pulled in and the hip an extension of the shoulders. Different aspect of this look would be found throughout the collection.

In other flowing dresses we find the large shoulders and hourglass waistline. They move back and forth from restricted movement to flawless fluidity. One of my favorite is look N°4. It is a black jumpsuit in black crepe with black satin shoulders and bust. The following look is an exercise in the mastery of shoulder work. It is a superbly tailored jacket finished with dramatic silk chiffon petal details. These petals would go on to be repeated in beautiful, white hooded look and worn sportswear elements

Later Gaultier pulled off an immaculate, Pied de Poule total look: skin trousers, slim skirt and a tailored, descending blazer. The clutch bag is also in the same fabric. And Conchita Wurst created a sensational moment when she took to the catwalk to the sound of her Eurovision 2014 Award winning song, “Rise Like a Phoenix”.
