Lodz, Poland – The young Polish designer NANKO had the distinction of opening the Designers Avenue catwalk shows.

The designer showed pieces both for men and women with stones as inspiration. Some details recall of marble. The pieces are simple, minimalist yet somehow extravagant. The colors are white, grey, navy and graphite. The materials  are mostly leather, wool, cotton and viscose. It is interesting to note that new designer processes the leather that she uses. She irons the leather when it’s wet giving it a great texture – nearly like marble.

The collection features many coats, blouses, shorts, skirts, vests and jackets. All the designs have a clean and pure feeling. The standout details are the big pockets and backpacks sewed to some of  the designs. Giving the collection a military feeling proved to be a great idea. Other details used where slits, cut offs, buckles and press-on studs at the back.

The clothes give the body a boxy shape. The coats are the true highlight of the collection with their huge pockets and belts tied around the waist.  The usage of leather gives the male looks a very strong masculinity. The slits in the womenswear  expose the legs.

To sum up I was really surprised by her debut. Finely made, good quality I give her the best wishes for her future career.
