Lodz, Poland- When you think of a Versace man, you may imagine a flamboyant peacock not afraid to outshine the rest. The collection for Fall/Winter 2015-2016 shows all the best this fashion house has to offer, although Donatella declared a new begging by striping everything to the soul of Versace: silhouette and cut.
Maybe not as fleshy and full of excess, but one look and you know whose work it is. Each piece is more soft, the colors are more delicate. The show opens with a single-breasted suits made out of shimmering fabrics. After that one can see chunky knitwear, bomber jackets, parkas, long pullovers, leggins, coats with fur trims and pants both skinny fitted and oversized and reminiscent of those for which Charlie Chaplin is known.
The sets mix comfy and a little over-sized clothes with those tailored closely to the body. The materials used are pure luxury: fur, cashmere and leather, all with signature gold details. The color palette is reduced to cacao brown, white, dark blue, black, grey and beige mostly lean and blended. Accessories include loafers, leather backpacks, clutches, strapped ankle boots, ties, sunglasses and wool scarves.
The collection indeed marks a change. Though the brand succeeds at not losing any of its sexiness and flair, the show managed to put on display for the world a newly mellowed face that is very appealing.
