Rzgow, Poland – From February 18 – 22, Ptak Moda organized the second edition of its growing event. According to them, not only is this the 2nd edition of the Ptak International Fashion Fair and the 1st edition of the Ptak Fashion Week Poland in which designers presented their Spring/Summer 2015 collections.

The events took place in Rzgow, which is located in Poland. Fifty collections were shown over the 5 days. It also hosted a record number of visitors – nearly 100,000 guests from around the world. Almost 3500 exhibitors participated in the International Fashion Fairs including the majority of Polish manufacturers. During the Ptak Fashion Week the golden mannequins awards were presented for the first time. The brands and producers presented Anna Fendi the Festival of Polish Fashion Producers Award.

The Ptak Fashion Week Poland is unique in the sense that the collections presented on the catwalks have already been produced and are ready for immediate purchase.  Maciej Zien, Teresa Kopias, Teresa Rosati and the new label, “By Patrizia Gucci” were among the most important designers showing. The organizers also presented the new collections in the Next Season and Fashion & Design category. During the fair panel discussions and lectures were presented.

At this time we have cause to be “cautiously optimistic” for the future success of the Ptak Fashion Week. However for this to happen the organizers are going to have to align themselves on path of every major fashion week. That is to say if they truly intend to become a successful fashion week and have longevity of success, they simply must do more to work with media.
This season there did not seem to be a clearly integrated media strategy that includes local, regional, national and international media. Without real efforts to include them, it will be very difficult for any fashion events with huge ambitions to achieve substainability in terms of public awareness. And it would also be a good idea for the organizers to also develop a far more selective eye in their choice of runway presentations. Some  collections were better suited for an intimate showroom presentation or cool happening.
Allowing them to stage a catwalk show was not a wise decision. Here a more experienced eye should be hired to help the organizers determine the collections that are most suitable for the catwalks versus those that need a more intimate setting.
