Maastricht, Netherlands – Today is the official kick off of the 7th edition of the annual FashionClash. Created in the Netherlands by Mr. Branko Popovic, Ms. Nawie Kuiper and Mr. Laurens Hamacher, this event brings together gifted young designers from around the world and on the same catwalk with other interdisciplinary fields.
This season it welcomes 35 rising designers from all around Europe. Among them are highly anticipated names such as Rachel Prijs, One Wolf, Odio & Jakub Pieczarkowski, Patrick Padua and Zorica Jadranski (CLICK HERE FOR MORE IMAGES).
Since its creation, the FashionClash has distinguished itself both domestically and internationally as the leading fashion event in the kingdom and the premiere international rendez-vous that heavily promotes rising talents and in a culturally and visually diverse manner.
The city is heavily implicated in supporting the event. Mayor Onno Hoes who is actively involved in promoting it both domestically and internationally, commented the following:
“FASHIONCLASH and Maastricht are intrinsically linked. The City of Maastricht is proud that an initiative like FASHIONCLASH originated in this town. We support events like FASHIONCLASH and actively bring together parties within the creative industry in order to create new projects. These collaborations will all contribute to the ambition to become a fashion capital in the Netherlands.
This year the city hosts the FASHIONCLASH Festival for the 7th time. Young talented designers show their work in Maastricht and so contribute in realising our collective ambition. I will be there and I invite all the readers of TheFashionInsider to visit Europe’s most exciting interdisciplinary fashion event next year!”
Over the next several days, the city will also welcome the FashionClash’s international guests and partners which include not only prestigious fashion press, but also representatives of the Serbia Fashion Week, FashionPhilosophy Fashion Week Poland and the ModaLisboa from Portugal.
As the organizers like to blend many of the best elements of Maastricht’s charms in a well-constructed plan to seduce its international guests, the annual welcoming dinner was organized again at the Restaurant “O”. This fine cuisine establishment is very accustomed to dealing with what an international travel would describe as “a more discriminating clientele”. And on this occasion the staff was up to the job. “DIVINE”, “SUPERB” and even “SIN ON A PLATE” are the only words that may adequately describe the chef’s risotto with tender shrimps and freshly sliced garlic.
The FashionClash kicks off tonight with the fashion film festival and will conclude on Sunday, June 15, 2015 with the presentation of awards.
