Lodz, Poland – For Spring/Summer 2016 Stefano Pilati has prepared a collection so relaxed and light weight. Though it is ideal for warmer weather, one has a bit of difficulty recognizing it as a collection for Ermenegildo Zegna.
One cannot focus on the leading piece of the show — the trousers–. They are voluminous, wide-legged and create the impression of fluidity. Contrasting volumes, the brand combines them with tailored to the body jackets. Although classically tailored the jackets are tight fitting in their single or double-breasted form. Another interesting detail is the shoulder work, which results in making the garments more casual. Yet still, the maintain a very manly and boxy shape.
Other options include oversized coats, gilets, bomber jackets, pea coats, shirts and jackets asymmetrically gathered and with pointy lapels. For accessories one can see sneakers, boots, slippers with fringes, briefcases, sunglasses and scarfs.
Pilati isn’t known for his use of color. So it comes as not shock that the main palette is black, white, grey, pale blue and dusty pink. This latter aids in creating the impression of casual romanticism. To break the solid base one can also see multi-colored madras prints in both micro and macro sizes. The fabrics used are pure luxury: superfine wool, cotton, nylon, gabardine, silk, Double Century cashmere and eco-leather.
Combining some of the brand’s original DNA, great Italian craftsmanship and the popular trend to show mans vulnerable and romantic side, the collection meets the needs of a connoisseur of fine clothing.
