Paris, France – Marni presents what can only be described as a surprising collection for Spring/Summer 2016. While stylish for the city, it does maintain a high level of functionality and utility.
Marni is focusing on dark colors for the season. Among the most prominent from their ranks are tones of tobacco, light and deep blue, burgundy, sage green, ochre and charcoal. They are used in silhouettes that are composed of straight cut top halves like leather jackets. The trousers this season are roomy and baggy. This is a clear cut opposition between structure and fluidity. The looks are crowned with an array of accessories. Among this latter the thick, heavy socks stand out.
And Marni has made it their mission to bring attention close to the face. This has resulted in the collection featuring large angular collars that brings back flashes of the late 1970s. This notion is further supported by the large pockets, which were a near-permanent fixture in men’s attire from the period.
