Paris, France – This writer could never tire of boasting the merits of the work of couturier Rami al Ali. And with the presentation of his Fall Winter 2015/16 collection, he has given me many more reasons to speak endlessly on his work. And after his last showing, can there really be any doubt as to why is just may be the biggest threat to the couture establishment?
With Audrey Hepburn as the spiritual muse, the new collection is inspired from the iconic elegance of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Ali has added touches of graphic aesthetic of Art Deco. Hence, we see the reflection of Hollywood’s golden era of glamour from designers like Adrian and Edith Head ! The looks have been re-thought, modernized and made contemporary for today’s haute couture clientele. And they have been blessed with the couturier’s affinity for draping.
Rami al Ali is the real deal and perhaps the most dangerous man to show off the official calendar.
He is a magician when it comes to draping. His technique leaves one absolutely breathless and speechless. And though he is not yet a universally known household name like those who actually have the authority to officially use the haute couture label, few are they among them who can authentically compete with his PURE MASTERY of draping. But there lies the problem, and constitutes a headache even for Rami al Ali…
Haute couture and grand couturiers do not like competition.
