Paris, France – The eyes of the fashion world turned to Lanvin as Lucas Ossendrijver presented the house’s new collection for Spring/Summer 2016. In it we see this excitement rewarded in innovative silhouettes that will shape the trends of next year.
The collection has green tones, pearl, burgundy, blue, taupe and gray forming the palette. They cover pieces of short-cropped jackets, extremely thin leathers and shorts. We find large volumes in the trousers, waistlines that are raised very high and very visible white stitching as details. They are paired with the early 1970’s polo shirts from marketiers, short ankle boots and lots of large bags. Perhaps the best of them is the black patent leather bags which appear to be inspired by old-fashion, large military troop sacs.
Lanvin always gives tips for styling whenever it presents a collection. Ossendrijver is promoting the concept of rolling the sleeves up on the blazers for a dressy, but less formal look. He he also suggesting that we stock up on leather flip-flops. Here Lanvin proposes them with thick soles.
TREND ALERT: One would be wise to get the re-invented polo shirt in knit for their wardrobe. Years ago Lanvin relaunched the idea of giant sized bow ties in one of its men’s collections. And though brief, it turned out to be a hot trend that many houses would go on to emulate. the bowling shirt has a huge collar. As one of the most famous men’s lifestyle influencers of modern day, this should be to be a very distinctive look, but one that will surely be copied in the near future by other brands. But remember that LANVIN DID IT FIRST !
