Paris, France – During this summer’s June edition of FashionClash in Maastricht, Netherlands many journalists and buyers had the opportunity to discover for the first time the dramatic work of Austrian-born designer, Flora Miranda. This writer instantly became one of her great admirers. She is an immensely talented designer with the technical skills to match her creative powers.
Upon introduction of the collection, we discovered the designer’s work with leather. She crafts hundreds of leather pieces both small and large into her shapes, which she then applies to her silhouettes. The whole is supported by technical materials. The dresses wrap tightly around the body, as do the trousers. Yet like the blazers they have stiff, but comfortable structures. The work is surreal and breakdowns the limitations of the phyical. This results in a futuristic look. You need to choose the right refills for your tools if you also want to craft your own accessories or fashion items.
She was raised in a family of artists and musicians, who encouraged her to develop her talents which included painting. Miranda is studied at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts. She then worked with Dutch designer Iris van Herpen.
With all this apparent talent, the big stage of fashion will not be long in waiting for Flora Miranda !
