Paris, France – Some designers try to make their work appear sexy. However with only one false move and the whole work can take a turn for the worse and appear tastelesss.
The Portuguese designer Fatima Lopes lost her way a bit in her work for Spring/Summer 2016. Known for her flashy, flesh revealing and feminine fashions, the designer has led us astray. In the new collection one can see stuff that is plain and lacks sophistication in many ways. This is a shame as the designer absolutely enchanted us only six months ago with her previous work for her Fall/Winter 2015/16 collection.
The crazy thing is that Fatima Lopes could have been be a hit had she only had a little more balance. Instead she went for the overkill. The clothes expose the body far too much with huge necklines, open backs, slits and cut outs. It just doesn’t work. In the end we have a work that is a little too risqué at times.
