Lviv, Ukraine – Last to show on a day filled with very strong catwalk shows at the Lviv Fashion Week is the designer Oksana Mukha. Her new collection for Spring/Summer 2016 is all about dressing her heroine for red carpet and other elite events.
The couturier starts us with a selection of gown done in light green, then she moves us into sections featuring yellow, delicate lilac and purple before finishing with bold red. The beauty of the collection is that the designer has carefully chosen her fabrics (laces, silk, silk crepe, silk jacquard, etc.) and then has lain them carefully upon the silhouette of each model. Whether she is giving ample amounts of fabrics into the lower half of her silhouette or doing a minimum volume in her sheath dresses, she is working to make sure that a rather fit and shapely woman is put on display.
True as the collection evolves, we can easily see that this couturier is inspired by some of the aesthetical works of the greatest couturiers today such as Stéphane Rolland and Georges Hobeika, but she is working to make the work all her own. Hence we see her moderate use of lace as accents in many of the pieces. She does not use it to create dresses and gown, rather she uses it to embellish her looks. She uses thin leather belts as by far the lone accessory.
