Baku, Azerbaijan – Georgian fashion house Avtandil opened the Baku Fashion Week with its spectacular designs. And with it, the Baku style season got of to a strong start.
Even in Paris Avtandil has been known over the years for its thorough attention to design, detail and craftsmanship. And here it does not disappoint. We find exciting cuts finished with unrefined hems It is all set to a color palette dominated by black, white and red. Texture is key in understanding work here. There is quite a bit of revolutionary fabrics such as technical materials and stiff glitter coating. To them silks, denim, knits, leathers, etc. are added into the mix.
The silhouettes for the women feature skin revealing cuts on the shoulders, arms and legs. Long splits highlight the legs. Though there are long maxi length dresses in flowing silks, the just above-the-knee is the preferred length. The trousers are cut to comfortable proportions and without being voluminous.
This writer must admit to a particular weakness for the long silk gown in gray. It flows and moves and also reflects the leitmotif where the long sleeves do not actually cover the arm. But rather they are used as very original embellishments. And with them, Avtandil has found another way to excite the senses with its creativity all while managing to please its traditional clients while still appealing to the younger tastes of today’s newer shopping classes.
