Novi Sad, Serbia – On a lovely night in Novi Sad, luxury ready-to-wear designer Marija Sabic presented her new collection of feminine work. And with it, she has once again imposed herself as the queen of fashion in the Balkans.
Once the lights went down an exciting house music version of Beyoncé’s “Girls Run the World”. The booming music set the tone for a fast pace and upbeat show. She models took to the catwalk as if they were amazons heading to style war. The first model, a tall stunning blond with blue eyes, hit the catwalk wearing a beautiful, sleeveless jumpsuit in crepe. The deep plunging V-neckline rushes to the mid section. The look is finished with handmade appliqués at the shoulders and on one of the legs of the trousers. In a deep off-white like the garments, these appliqués also appear on gowns later in the collection.
Marija Sabic continues to show dramatic flashes of skin in nearly all of the garments. Her cutouts are replaced with sheer fabrics. This sheers allows for the form of the garments to be unaffected. Yet the skin remains visible. Some of the cutouts trace the leg, thus creating a sense of infinitely long legs. To these fabric, the designer ads lots of silk and chiffon.
The designer breaks up the red carpet glamour with the appearance of the occasional short cocktail dress. And she also tosses in sets with hot pants. These are best expressed in her navy blue.
