Tel Aviv, Israel – Shani Zimmerman presents this writer with a small dilemma. Her new collection for Spring/Summer 2016 lacks the stronger defining line that it deserves. However in spite of that, I still like very much what I see and appreciate the various routes that she has placed us upon in order to reach our final destination.
Sheers, geometric cutouts, largely cut trousers, draping, lace, plunging necklines and bare shoulders and arms are among the many ideas that the designer calls upon. With them she creates a carefree, effortless sense of style for the Shani woman. This woman is no illusion. And she is certain to remain fashionable and chic as she moves from one afternoon event to cocktail hour and then on to dinner and dancing.
Rare are the pieces such as the cotton dress that are suitable for softer occasions. However that is no problem in the overall big picture. The only real crime in this collection is the decision to use those horrible near-flat shoes. Their only purpose here is to do an great style injustice to the otherwise beautiful pieces in the collection.
