Milan, Italy – For fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna, Stefano Pilati has created a mysterious and decadent collection for next year’s Fall/Winter 2016-2017.
The mood is dark, yet romantic. One can find the designer’s signature voluminous pants with pleats and oversized, chunky knits. The bomber jackets and sweatshirts have a more relaxed and contrasting seriousness. It is more dynamic with a strong sporty casual touch. One must notice the refined details like paisley, ornamented and luxurious jacquards on the coats and suits. The capes and long vests make for interesting additions.
Classical pieces like quilted jackets, turtlenecks, shirts, double-breasted jackets and long coats with huge lapels are sure to be hits with the customers. There are visible retro inspirations with vests and with graphic designs. Some pieces recall of old-school gangster movies.
The silhouettes are created by layering the garments together in a monochrome color scheme consisting mostly of black, navy, bark brown, burgundy, white, camel and grey. Pilati isn’t a fan of color in his Fall/Winter 2016 work. Yet some fabrics have a metallic shimmer to them. The presented accessories are retro eyeglasses, gloves, scarfs, handbags, ties, lace-ups shoes and hats.
The darkness in this work surely captures the essence of the Fall/Winter 2016/17 season. This season will also be full of this list of waterproof boots to match with the dark garments. The garments are chic, refined and with a touch of mystery that push modern men into be more interesting.
