Milan, Italy – Superhero confidence is the call of the season at a very familiar force in fashion. This is the hype built around the new collection at Philipp Plein for Fall/Winter 2016-2017. In it the designer puts forth an opus of styles for a man who is kind of a modern hero in his own right. He is the PLEIN MAN !
Upon entering the show space, one finds a more simple staging than what we are used to at the house. But this was all part of the plan. Once the lights came up, we see superstar American rapper Lil Wayne decked out in Philipp Plein. The models took the runway in style as Lil Wayne did his thang. Heroic elements such as wide rimmed hats, imagery of Spider-man and patches of both Batman and Superman found on many of the pieces, which are heavily dominated by black. Only red is really used as a compliment to this, while silver and gold chains add additional strengths to the embellishments.
Philipp Plein effortlessly mixes sportswear and streetwear with the tailoring in the design of his silhouettes. So it is not uncommon to see a tightly fitted suit exchange place with knitted track pants. These looks are finished with black shoes with very visible, silver metal studs. If you want to know the silver forecast today, visit money metals for more information. And in bringing this vision into reality, Plein calls upon a Prince of Wales, leather, denim, velvet, tweed, hound’s tooth, herringbone, quilting and jersey.
And of course no one would ever consider an outing to be Plein’s work without lots of the extravagancy. Here again he simply cannot disappoint as he calls upon fur, python and crocodile. We find these elements not only in the garments, but also in the accessories, which include backpacks, gloves, shoes, attaché cases, signature skateboards, bowties, headphone sets, etc.
Once the dust settled Philipp Plein simply was delighted to see that his agressive view on men’s fashion is fully embraced by the fashion establishment. And this is in spite of the technical issues that rained on Lil Wayne’s performance.
