Milan, Italy – Large vs. Slim is the recurring visual that we find in the new collection at fashion house Canali. In this new composition for Fall Winter 2016/17 we see the house working diligently to bring harmony to the two opposing forces.
The silhouettes are cut very closely to the body. This is particularly the case in the men’s trousers. The knitwear is perfectly used in the top portions of the silhouettes to reinforce the idea of something snugly fitted. Further accenting this are the blazers and jackets. The first — both single and double-breasted — respect the norms established over the past several years of not giving too much length to the suit blazers. The small coats are cut just to the waistline, and with those in cow and pony skins being the most attractive.
Large comes into play with certain elements that are used more as embellishments to the collection rather than in the construction of major pieces. The pockets are made very visible thanks to their sizes on the suit blazers, outer coats, and short cropped jackets, etc. From there we see lapels further add to the notion of “largeness” among the embellishments. They make their appearance in the coats and even in more fitted double-breasted jackets.
Knitwear is used as accents this season to on the sleeves. Many of the sleeves feature large cuffs. This is equally the case for shirts, blazers and jackets. However those in knits are rolled over the sleeves of the dress shirts for a new option in styling.
