Milan, Italy – Fuzzy furs, pyjama bottoms, color block stripes, checks, patchwork and more loose cuts are just a few of the myriad of individual elements that went into the successful creation of the new Fall Winter 2016/17 collection at Fendi. The new opus is a tribute to diversity in luxury tastes.
Fendi works heavily with tones and hues of blue. Its domination is never truly broken or challenged. Rather it is complimented by most unexpected colors for wintery weather such as canary yellow. This yellow is found in solid pieces such as fuzzy jackets or in combination with blues like in the silk pyjama bottoms.
Fendi seems to be having a really enjoyable time this season with the creation of the men’s line. And it shows. There is a whimsical air in nearly every look. This is a deliberate and direct exploration into other layers of the Fendi man and of his larger tastes. He is using lots of furry, fuzzy and cozy slippers too. But during the day, he counts on large outer coats, velvet suits and knitwear tops with a condensed technique for greater warmth.
Though whimsical, he is still all about luxury. In addition to his full mink pieces and embellishments, he also enjoys mink trimmings on some of his tops. And of course the Fendi man of Fall Winter 2016/17 is all about assorted details. For example he wears large, amply cut trousers. The outseam of the trousers have a large French braid done in knit. This same braid, which is also found on some of the out coats, is separated and worn as a micro-thin scarf. Though it won’t serve to keep the neck very warm, it will do the trick for pushing forth the notion of a Fendi man who is extremely conscious of how those little touches and that serve to distinguish one selective gentleman from another one.
