Paris, France – Spring is the season in which Alexis Mabille comes to life in a manner that few other designers can equal. He seems to breathe every aspect of the season, before transposing it like new life into his work. This year is not different for him and his creative energies.
Alexis Mabille works primarily to force the domination of black, white and navy blue throughout the collection. He puts them to use in his silk, crepe, chiffon, feathers, etc. With them he creates huge blouses, sheath dresses, maxi length gowns, slimming trouser sets, etc. He crafts enormous volumes that contrast with the slimmer lines of other pieces. The result is an intoxicating mix of technique, skill and aesthetics.
Per his tradition of working with the legends, the grand couturier has called upon some of his friends to participate in the showing of his presentation. These friends also happen to be some of the most famous models our generation including the Estonian beauty Carmen Kaas, the American chameleon Debra Shaw and the French siren, Audrey Marnay. Their presence alone served to show the depth of seriousness that Alexis Mabille had dedicated into making sure that each piece is worn as it should be and that it receives the attention that it deserves as these legendary catwalk heroines move through space and through time.
We love the large coats, bustier-style tuxedo dresses in black crepe, the ostrich feathers that are used as embellishments and the little black dress in singular lace. And to them we must also include the capes and the pleated pieces that really assist in bringing zest to the collection.
