Paris, France – In Paris the French grand couturier Franck Sorbier has once again given us one of the most refreshing highlights of the haute couture season. This time he takes stages his fashion show as a recital in which ballet and modern dance serve as the guiding forces behind his new presentation, which has been set to a very musical note.
Muted gold, white, olive and sunflower yellow are the colors with which Franck Sorbier has decided to open the season. Under his attentive eye, they somehow have the force of a full hurricane yet with the softness of a light mid-summer breeze. They combine effortlessly with the movement of the skirts and dress bottoms that have been done in silk tulle.
Sorbier calls upon his much in high demand technique of compressing fabrics. He uses it to give form to the bodice of his dresses. He reveals the shoulders, arms and lower legs in many of the pieces. There too are hints of very subtle draping such as seen in some of the shorter looks.
Franck Sorbier sometimes creates soft, rounded edge, vertical pleats along the bust. He then infiltrates certain pieces with his hand tied rope cords, which bring more depth to the looks. And for the very personal touch, he embellishes his coats and some other pieces with painting done on the fabrics. And when volume is added, a harmony is created on a level that is nearly inexplicable with common words. That is the magic of Franck Sorbier and of his new haute couture collection for Spring/Summer 2016.
