Paris, France – This season Chinese couturier Lan Yu opted for an intimate presentation in Paris of her new couture collection for Spring/Summer 2016. Showing at the Mini Palais, she managed to pull us into her beautiful cuts, which are made even more attractive thanks to her wise selection of materials. Among them we find silk, organza, velvet and lace.
The gowns and dresses share a mix of structure and fluidity. They co-exist in great harmony. Some silhouettes reveal the skin such as at the shoulders, arms and neckline. The designer also includes long splits in certain of her creations in order to elongate a beautiful leg.
Beadings, embroideries and feathers are the elements that the couturier uses to embellish the looks. And draping is one of the techniques that the designer does particularly well with. It is a shame that Lan Yu did not create one or two more looks with additional draping for us to see. What an amazing treat that would have provided for us all in this elegantly crafted selection of work.
