Lodz, Poland – One of today’s bona fide rising stars in menswear is without a doubt the young Polish designer, Piotr Drzal. His new collection for Fall Winter 2016/17 must not only be considered as a determined display of vision, but it compels one to acknowledge the depth of his growth over his professional career that spans only over a period of several years.
With more confidence under his belt, Piotr Drzal goes further this season than he ever has before. In terms of silhouettes, he balances his cuts in reasonable proportions in his pants and jacket. He then contrasts them again his longer cuts which tend to slide towards a more relaxed sportswear tone. Drzal cuts his blazers like a simple bowling shirt. He adds sleeves in a different material in order to better exhibit the simplicity of his cuts.
The most exciting passages in the collection are the two things that are not so common in menswear. First the designer offers two versions of his jumpsuit: a) one sleeveless and in a purple tone and b) a black one with long sleeves. Secondly, The other standouts in the collection includes Piotr Drzal ‘s use of bold sequins. In vivid gold, he uses them in not only the trousers, but also in the windbreaker inspired tracksuit jackets.
