Lodz, Poland – Rediscovering the roots of denim, the Italian fashion Diesel presents the new collection for its Diesel Black Gold line with a purpose. In it we see a raw, modern collection for Spring/Summer 2017.

A utilitarian, functional spirit of brand is visible through worker clothing inspirations. Sporty hints are added with nylon shorts and baggy sweatshirts. One can find a play with shape and length in the silhouettes.

Diesel Black Gold is offering a huge effort on proportions. This results in the body-fitting pieces that define the slim body shape. As an opposition there are baggy, voluminous options. New options include kimono inspired tops and cropped jackets with defined, elastic waists. Some of the pieces such as the short-cropped tops with large banded midsection have a clearly feminine chic about them. That is balanced out in later looks by the work gear touches manifest in big utility pockets on the front of the shirts and jackets. This is a direct throwback to 1990s. The denim is plain and solid or with an interesting crusted effect.

Besides denim the leading materials are cotton and leather in colors such as indigo, white, khaki, beige, pink, black and pale blue. Visible details worth mentioning are the hanging straps in pants, asymmetric details and faded stripes in blue and white. Accessories added are shoes like boots, sandals and sneakers.

When all is said and done, one clearly understands that this new Diesel Black Gold collection is the one. It is inventive stylish and fashion forward. Clearly many risks have been taken. This should pay off in deuces for the house !
