Antwerp, Belgium – Ok. This is not going to be an easy review to put into words. However, things must be said that will prove displeasing to more than just one soul. Such is the case with the new Fall Winter 2016/17 collection by designer Elena Dementeva.
The new “collection” is one of the most inconsistent pieces of work seen this season. The designer is all over the place with her creations. As a whole, one cannot really classify it as a true collection. This is due to the fact that she has nearly ignored each and every rule of fashion. There is no unity of shape. There is not unity of design. There is no unity in cut. There is no development of real ideas and absolutely no transitions between them. The only saving grace is the fact that she did use a burgundy color in several outfit. And she also used the same floral printed fabric in two or three looks.
Elena Dementeva managed to put in some jumpsuits in the mix. That is a very smart idea because of their clearly universal popularity these days. And finally, there are two more dresses in the collection that would sell with no problem. The tight, floor-length, body-fitting body dress is the one among all the dresses that has the best chances of multi-market success.
