Paris, France – The famed South Korean designer Lee Young Hee has made a successful return to the big stage and bright lights of Paris and with a new couture collection. Though she has been missing in action from the Paris catwalks, her return is surely a welcomed one.
The new couture collection is all about Korea’s love affair with silks. In fact the country is one of the world’s best producers of the material. Here Lee Young Hee cuts and combines them in her subtle and understated silhouettes for the season. We find the inspirations from the traditional kimono, halter top dresses, maxi length gowns and the occasional patchwork. There are also subtle embroideries and just a few hints of fur and leather.
Though far from the expected razzle-dazzle that so often defines the world of couture, Lee Young Hee is here. She steps into the void and provides exquisitely made pieces that are perfect for formal dinners and dining out when bling is simply not called required.
