Paris, France – In his second season of presenting on the official haute couture calendar in Paris, designer Yacine Aouadi returns with a work that is far different than from what he showed just six months ago. In fact instead of a semi-gradual visual evolution in terms of style, it appears that Aouadi has opted to go for a full blown revolution and that in only one season.
The new Fall Winter 2016/17 collection is obviously on of technical superiority. For this one only has to look at the awesome construction of the shoulders! One simply marvels at the skilled handwork that went into the creation of the embroideries.
However from an aesthetic point of view, this collection falls extremely short of the creative bar of excellent that Yacine Aouadi set for us just six months ago. Perhaps it is the just-below-the-knees length pants. Or perhaps it could be the unattractive footwear. No matter. It just seems as though the couturier lost his way in the wilderness as he conceived this work. In the end we are left with an unrealised story.
