Paris, France – Playing with volumes to achieve a slouchy, yet so stylish end result the French label Y/Project presents its new work for Spring/Summer 2017.

One can find present the now mythical vibe of the 1990’s in each of the sets heading down the runway. Artistic director Glenn Martens brings forth an avant-garde, artsy collage of styles, etc. It shows different views on deconstructing shapes to create new forms. The ruffles — A HUGE TREND OF THE SEASON — looks almost couture-like with its striking result. They are present also in Y/Project ‘s velvet pieces, torn denim and long dresses which bear a strong resemblance to nightgowns. The flowy, feminine pieces are contrasted with the raw, sharp structures.

There are a lot of details going on in theY/Project collection. There are lots of asymmetry, metal rivets but first of all the eclectic mixture of textures. The silhouettes are made by multiple layering of tops, pants, jackets, skirts, dresses, shirts and coats. The more exaggerated garments give some drama to those which a women could wear straight from the rack.
