Paris, France – Pattern mixing is going to be the newest trend for the Spring/Summer 2017 season. That is of course if it is left up to Christian Wijnants. The Belgium designer combines his spring designs with a mini resort collection. From crispy whites, to polka dots, to electric floral prints. This creates a lot of variety in the presentation. But one thing they all have in common is the breezy fits that make all of the looks perfect for higher temperatures.
We can see many loose fits of Christian Wijnants walking down the runway. The shapes are created with waistline belts in the same materials and colors as the dresses. One of his favorite techniques for this collection is the wrapping technique and the parachute effect. The spacious silhouettes are designed to create volume and give an artistic touch with many asymmetric lines. Preferred colors are white, blue, orange, black, lilac, green and yellow, which create a combined feeling of fresh and colorful looks for the warmer seasons of the year.
Some of Christian Wijnant ‘s designs are made with stronger cottons for a powerful look, but the majority of the looks have a flowy elegance that only silk can create. In general, the designs have an elegant simplicity. However, one of the looks that stood out is an oversized sweater dress with big patches attached on it. This piece goes out of the comfort zone of the collection and enhances the artistic vibes.
Overall, the Spring/Summer 2017 collection of Christian Wijnants isn’t very exciting nor renewing. However, all of the designs are easy to wear and combine, which makes it an interestingly fresh collection for the resort buyers.
